Residential Drafting for Builders & Homeowners
Practical sets for contractors, approachable designs for clients — all ready for permit approval.
From remodels to new builds, Link Built translates ideas into construction-ready documents.
Good plans set the tone for the entire build: keeping projects on budget, avoiding delays, and giving everyone a clear picture of what’s ahead.
At Link Built, Steve Petry creates every set in Revit, the 3D drafting software that has become the industry standard. That means builders get workable, permit-aware documents, and homeowners can preview their home or addition in three dimensions before a single board is cut.

Homeowners
Working with Steve at Linkbuilt Drafting and Design was one of the best decisions we made in the process of building our home in Lutsen, MN. From the start, Steve stood out as an excellent listener—he took the time to understand not just our ideas, but the feel and flow we wanted for our home. His knowledge, insight, and attention to detail brought our vision to life in ways we hadn’t even considered. Steve met with us in person, made site visits to ensure the plans aligned perfectly with the land, and was always quick to respond whenever we had questions or needed adjustments. The entire process was collaborative, efficient, and genuinely enjoyable. We couldn’t be happier with the end result and will absolutely reach out to Steve first if we ever go through this process again. We highly recommend Linkbuilt Drafting and Design to anyone looking for thoughtful, creative, and professional design work.
Steve Petry, Owner
I’ve spent my career on both sides of residential construction—first with a toolbelt on, and now at the drafting table. I grew up in the trades and later earned an Associate of Applied Science in Architectural Technology, which gave me the formal training to match the practical experience I already had.
I draft primarily in Autodesk Revit and build each project as a full 3D model. Working this way lets me sort out rooflines, framing changes, layout adjustments, and other details early, before anything reaches the permit office or the jobsite.
My work covers a wide range of residential projects across the Twin Cities—new homes, additions, remodels, decks, and other structures. I’ve worked with many builders for years, producing consistent plan sets that fit their workflow and meet the expectations of different cities. Homeowners come to me for help turning ideas into workable designs and understanding how those ideas fit the structure they already have.
Everything comes back to the same approach: understand the project, draft it honestly, and create plans that support the people who will eventually build the work.
